General terms and conditions
Thank you for your interest in my services. My rate for proofreading is €0.06 per word. This includes linguistic and stylistic corrections. Additionally, I offer content recommendations and guidance on suitable publication venues. Should you require text formatting according to a specific journal’s style sheet, I can provide this service is for an additional €0.02 per word.
With over five decades of experience in literature, linguistics, and the humanities in general, I also provide online coaching on research structure, methodology, and conceptual development. This service is offered free of charge as part of my “academic enthousiasm”. Coaching can be provided via WeChat, Teams, VooV-Tencent Meeting, or Zoom.
After the initial corrections, you are entitled to one revision of the edited text within two months (provided the text remains substantially the same). While I try to stay updated on developments in the humanities, you should review my comments carefully, particularly regarding the specific jargon of your discipline.
If your article is published, I will gladly celebrate our collaboration’s success. If it is rejected, I can assist with revisions based on the reviewers’ feedback and criticisms. However, although I provide editorial support, I cannot be held responsible if your article is rejected.
Payments can be made via bank transfer or PayPal. I provide official invoices for tax deductions or academic reimbursements.

About me
I’m an emeritus professor specializing in Applied Linguistics, with a primary focus on Lexicography, Translation Studies, Intercultural Communication and a strong interest in their sociological and societal dimensions. Over the past decade, my research and teaching have increasingly centered on China, where I have had the pleasure of giving lectures at different universities.
With nearly five decades of experience across multiple academic institutions, I concluded my career at the Free University of Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), retiring in 2020. My international teaching experience includes positions at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil) and annual course on Intercultural communication at Sichuan University (China).
After my retirement, I established a one-person proofreading and academic support service, where I not only proofread articles and dissertations for academic language but also advise on publishing venues and provide guidance on research questions, methodology, and overall text structure. This mentorship aspect is largely free of charge, as I still see myself primarily as a teacher, with business concerns taking second place.
